Mines’ renowned faculty creates a challenging and supportive learning environment. A student body of about 5,900 allows for a student-faculty ratio of 17:1 while maintaining rigorous degree programs that provide a top-notch technical education and professional training and experiences in areas such as communication, leadership, teamwork and ethics. Mines also provides an extensive laboratory infrastructure to ensure plenty of hands-on experiences. Fun, friendly, connected campus
The social environment on the Mines campus is fun, informal and friendly, and students are involved in more than 200 clubs and organizations, pursuing interests in music, student government, Greek life and many special interest and professional associations. Mines fields 18 NCAA Division II varsity sports teams—most of which are dominant forces in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Mines also offers 20 competitive club sports, and more than one-quarter of Mines students participated on 530 intramural teams last year.

Located in the scenic foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the City of Golden provides a welcoming and diverse setting for the Mines community to enjoy. Golden offers many outdoor recreational activities as well as several museums and restaurants to experience in town. Whether enjoying Colorado’s famous outdoor adventures or exploring more urban activities, Golden’s centralized location is also perfect for heading out in any direction. There are about a dozen major ski areas within a one- to three-hour drive from campus, and downtown Denver and Boulder are within 20 miles of Mines, offering all the attractions of a vibrant, metropolitan area.
