About the Position

As Fleet Maintenance Manager, you will supervise the maintenance and repair of a fleet of 40 vehicles (Gilligs, Orions, International school buses, and cutaways) serving the Town of Winter Park, and the Winter Park Resort. Bus service operates year round, but service increases substantially during the ski season from November to April. The seasonality of the operation means that the maintenance team cycles between preparing the fleet for the ski season during the summer, and keeping it running during the winter. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that 2 technicians are trained on current operating procedures, are properly equipped, and are motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner. Other major responsibilities as Fleet Maintenance Manager will include:

  • Schedule and administer fleet maintenance and assists in troubleshooting problems with vehicles and equipment.
  • Make employment decisions, supervise maintenance staff, delegate the work and handle employee relations.
  • Work closely with the location and region management teams providing maintenance status, vehicle availability, and budget updates. Review financial and budget variances and accounts payable documents.
  • Ensure a safe environment exists and all maintenance activities are in compliance with State, Federal and Company requirements.
  • Initiate and implement projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
  • Address the unique challenges of maintaining transit vehicles in the snow, ice, and extreme cold.

Additionally, the Fleet Maintenance Manager will oversee the transition to a new, state of the art maintenance facility which is scheduled to begin construction in the Spring of 2022. The transition to the new facility offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of transit in Winter Park by solving many of the problems currently faced by the maintenance team.

Qualifications of Fleet Maintenance Manager.

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; Technical training preferred
  • Valid driver's license
  • 5+ years of hands-on mechanical supervisory experience
  • Industry experience repairing and maintaining automotive or diesel vehicles
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office
  • ASE certifications strongly preferred; must be able to obtain while employed
  • Subject to a drug test
