Overview

As a Senior Structural Engineer at Flatiron, you will be responsible for overseeing the structural design of complex transportation infrastructure projects, including major and unique structural features. Leading specialized multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will provide technical expertise and solve design and construction challenges. Additionally, you will conduct technical reviews, perform engineering analysis, and present findings at technical meetings.

What you will be doing
    Lead the structural design of complex transportation infrastructure projects, encompassing major and unique structural features.
  • Conduct technical due-diligence reviews of design deliverables, implementing best practices for design and construction requirements, developing innovative and optimized solutions, identifying and mitigating key design risks, and ensuring compliance with contract and industry standards.
  • Provide engineering analysis and evaluation, including advanced analysis techniques for structural modeling and staged-construction analysis.
  • Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders to coordinate design efforts and provide technical insight to address design and construction challenges.
  • Perform accurate, thorough, and timely technical reviews and engineering analysis.
  • Deliver analysis, review findings, and recommendations in technical meetings and Client presentations, as required.
  • Capture and spread design innovation and lessons learned to all Districts.
  • Stay updated on Flatiron's company values and strategic plan.
  • Support published corporate policies.
  • Undertake additional assignments as directed by management.
What we are looking for
  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering required.
  • Master's Degree or Doctorate (PhD) in Structural Engineering preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE and/or P.Eng.) license required.
  • Strong academic background in Structural Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in the design of various bridge types in both concrete and steel, with knowledge of staged-construction analysis, or related experience in the construction industry is required.
  • Familiarity with industry design codes and standards.
  • Proficiency in analytical and numerical industry design software is essential (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, RISA, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Familiarity with various bridge types design and construction, foundation design principles, structural dynamics / seismic analysis, and numerical modeling in the field of structural engineering is advantageous.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and management skills are essential
