Prior experience with laboratory and field testing is not required but is a plus. You will work with experienced team members in a hands-on environment and receive training to develop your career, including various test methods and preparation of samples for microscopic examination. You will assist in the preparation and testing of laboratory samples, log in project samples, help maintain a clean and safe working environment, and will be prepared for and encouraged to obtain relevant lab certifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform laboratory and/or field materials testing
  • Communicate and coordinate with senior lab staff and/or materials engineers for daily assignments
  • Prepare specimens for microscopic examination
  • Prepare and log samples
  • Maintain and organize lab equipment and supplies
  • Understand, follow, and enforce all safety standards
  • Assume increasing responsibilities as your experience and capabilities develop
  • Travel locally in the field to obtain samples, as needed

Requirements:

  • Strong interest in construction materials sciences and evaluations
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and ownership of assigned tasks
  • Ability to obtain relevant ACI field and laboratory certifications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • High School Diploma
  • Additional education, certifications, and job experience will be considered

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires visual acuity and listening ability. Individuals must have the dexterity to be able to operate office and field equipment such as computers, telephone laboratory equipment, and other office and field equipment. Requirements may also include:

  • Ability to lift, carry, and push materials and equipment up to 50 lbs
  • Medically fit to utilize respiratory protection devices and other forms of Personal Protective Equipment
  • Ability to drive and safely operate a motor vehicle

Annual starting base salary (gross): $47,700 - $73,500. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on several factors including consideration for a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base salary is one component of our total compensation package for employees.
