The Behavioral Health Clinician Non-Licensed is responsible for direct patient care and safety including diagnostic, assessment, treatment, and discharge planning for children, adolescents, and their families in Outpatient, Inpatient or Emergency Department settings.

Qualifications
  • EDUCATION: Master's degree in psychology, social work or related field.
  • EXPERIENCE: No professional level experience; must have completed graduate school field placements
  • CERTIFICATION(S): Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR certification
  • LICENSURE: Eligibility for Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker to be earned within 1.5 years of hire

Credentialing must be completed by the Medical Staff Office (MSO) within 3 months of employment

Responsibilities

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE

Neonate - <30 days

Infancy - >30 days to 1yr

Toddlers - >1yr to 3yrs

Pre-Schoolers - >3yrs to 5yrs

School age - >5yrs to 13yrs

Adolescent - >13yrs to 18yrs

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

  1. Under the supervision of an identified licensed Behavioral Health Clinician
  2. Provides direct patient care and management of children and adolescents by developing and implementing treatment and intervention plans and conducting needs assessment to gather patient information.
  3. Provides crisis intervention to families and provides interventions with families to support discharge to home and stabilization. Also develops a therapeutic relationship with patients and families to assist with psychological problems.
  4. Completes diagnostic behavioral health assessments for treatment or crisis intervention. Compiles and analyzes data and prepares case records, reports, and documents that comply with state and federal standards in providing case notes, treatment plans, and evaluations.
  5. Collaborates with other disciplines or departments on patient care and unit safety and serves as a liaison with multi-disciplinary care teams and external community agencies to identify, implement, and monitor treatment goals. Presents case presentations and provides consultation to medical teams and callers.
  6. Coordinates admissions to programs within the Pediatric Mental Health Institute or community programs and coordinates treatment with internal and external services.
  7. Leads, monitors, evaluates, and collaborates educational and therapeutic groups for patients; participates in clinical rounds and maintains communication with unit or department leadership.
  8. Attends educational in-services for Behavioral Health Clinicians
  9. Participates in unit committees and educational offerings; complies with all policies and procedures related to the Pediatric Mental Health Institute and the hospital; and provides customer service as related to the Mental Health field.

COMMUNICATIONS: Contacts with the patients, families, or employees where factual information relative to the organization or its functions are received, relayed, or a service rendered according to established procedures or instructions.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Under close supervision, the employee receives training to develop skills and abilities in a specific line of work or general occupational area. Work product is subject to close, continuous inspection.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $53,981.27 to $80,971.91
Hourly Salary Range: $25.95 to $38.93
