Job Overview

The Child Care Attendant provides a safe and stimulating play environment for children (6 weeks to 17 years old) enrolled in the child care program (KidStreet) or in the organization's sibling support program

Children's Hospital Colorado, KidStreet, is a unique therapeutic child developmental center for medically complex children aged 6 weeks to 3 years old. Children receive educational, therapeutic & medical services while engaging in developmentally appropriate activities and interacting with other similarly aged children. Staff works together on an inter- professional team of therapists (OT, PT, SLP and Learning), nurses, medical assistants, and childcare attendants. At KidStreet, our role is to prepare these children to successfully transition to a more conventional home, childcare, or preschool environment.

Job Status: FT 80hrs
Shift: Availability 7 am - 5 pm Monday through Friday, although shift will be 8 hrs five days a week

Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required
  • Certification(s): BLS

Responsibilities

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE

Neonate - <30 days

Infancy - >30 days to 1yr

Toddlers - >1yr to 3yrs

Pre-Schoolers - >3yrs to 5yrs

School age - >5yrs to 13yrs

Adolescent - >13yrs to 18yrs

Adult - >18yrs to 65yrs

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Assists with patient care, educational activities and therapeutic interventions (e.g., bottle feed, hold syringe after GT feeds initiated, change diapers, rock or comfort children, turn off feeding pump when feed completed, apply orthotic devices) in the child care environment as delegated by the clinical team.
  2. Provides a safe and inclusive space to support the supervision of siblings who are related to a current patient and meet sibling support criteria un the Creative Play sibling support environment.
  3. Maintains a safe environment for population served and monitor children closely to avoid accident or injury. Notifies clinical team or supervisor if change in status or safety concern is observed.
  4. Knowledge of available resources (e.g. telephone, copier, TV/VCR, computer, gaming devices).

Adhere to Personal Protective Equipment and infection control policies and procedures

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $31,255.31 to $46,882.96
Hourly Salary Range: $15.03 to $22.54
