In this essential role, you will be at the forefront of the day-to-day operations for the Erie Community Center, the Ballpark at Erie, and various Town-owned parks and facilities. Your regular and routine duties will not only encompass managing and coordinating various sporting events and activities but also create a memorable experience for the residents and visitors enjoying non-owned Town facilities hosting sports activities. ANTICIPATED WORK SCHEDULE: Part-time to include early mornings, nights, and weekends as needed; not to exceed 130 hours/month on average. Schedule may vary depending on program specific needs but this position primarily works weeknight evenings and Saturday's during the day.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manager Duties

  • Assists the Coordinator or Assistant Coordinator in performing daily duties in a variety of recreation, sports, and ballpark operations.
  • Acts as the Manager on Duty. Responsible for opening or closing the Erie Community Center and the Ballpark at Erie.
  • Provides exceptional guest service to all guests. Responds to information requests, comments and complaints from the public.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings and trainings. May assist with training staff.
  • Ensures the safety of guests and program participants by enforcing all rules and policies with staff and guests.
  • Remains composed and makes sound judgments in any emergency or non-emergency situation. Responds to emergency situations, administers first aid, CPR, or other medical attention as needed, and completes incident reports.
  • Maintains work area, facilities, equipment, and reports. Set up, tear down of program related equipment required. Inspects for safety hazards.
  • Maintains frequent communication with staff within the Community Center and Division and reports any issues or concerns with inventory, facility conditions, policies and incidents to supervisory staff as needed.
  • Provides direct supervision for officiating staff, youth & adult games and practices, and tournaments conducted by outside organizations.
  • Manages sports equipment inventory to include preparing and collecting equipment, monitoring inventory, and making recommendations for new purchases.

Other/Miscellaneous

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Town Wide Expectations/Duties

  • Serve as a professional ambassador of the Town by maintaining a professional image, a team-based collaborative approach, and high ethical standards.
  • Inspect facilities and program areas to ensure a safe environment. Report safety concerns as needed.
  • Interpret, communicate, and enforce all Department, Town, County, State and Federal policies and procedures within areas of program responsibility.
  • Complete all required safety trainings in a timely manner and ensures staff compliance
  • Develop and accomplish goals and objectives to support the Department and Town mission

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. High School Diploma or GED preferred. One-year related customer service, recreation or related experience preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Must successfully pass all required employment screens that may include but not be limited to a Criminal Background Check.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS

  • Ability to obtain CPR, AED and First Aid certifications within three months of hire

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Knowledge of: To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate basic knowledge of equipment use and maintenance, facilities, operations, supplies, and rules of sports and activities for all levels of participants. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, ordinances, and policies, including safety regulations also required.

Skills in: Providing outstanding customer service to a diverse guest population; positive and professional working relationships with all Town staff and the community, may include instruction, communication of rules and regulations and enforcing policies; time management; presenting verbal and written information; the use of standard office equipment, computers, and various software programs; problem solving; following and enforcing all rules, regulations and policies; recognizing safety hazards and sanitation issues and notify supervisors; safely operate a variety of recreation related equipment; remaining composed in emergency situations and working effectively under stressful circumstances; performing CPR, First Aid, and AED to level of certification.

Environmental Factors:
Work is performed in a standard indoor/outdoor athletic environment. Work may involve competing demands, performing multiple tasks, working to deadlines.

Physical Factors:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and occasionally lift storage boxes and other sports equipment of 30lbs or more.
