About the role - you will:

  • Have the opportunity and the responsibility not only to build great applications but to help shape software architecture across our entire product ecosystem.
  • Lead and mentor development team members, instilling strong engineering discipline and helping grow technical expertise within the team.
  • Drive architecture, design, and implementation of key software components of our ecosystem and work closely with our user experience team to build great user interfaces.
  • Help to manage engineering resources across multiple projects, balancing features, quality and schedule for each.
  • Work collaboratively with other teams in the company such as Product Management, hardware and firmware, UX and QA.
  • Help drive constant innovation in both product and process.

Your experience includes:

  • Excellent object-oriented software design skills with focus on high-quality, maintainable, scalable, and performant software architecture.
  • Solid development experience with Web and/or desktop applications:
    • Javascript, Node.JS, Vue, React.JS C#, Objective-C, Swift, C++
  • Strong computer science fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, memory management, concurrency) with demonstrated ability to apply these skills to solve hard real world problems.
  • Providing technical leadership and mentoring for small development teams.
  • Experience with network protocols: SSH, HTTPS, FTP, SSDP, SLP
  • Advocating for and improving upon software development practices as a means to deliver phenomenal products.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering related field (i.,e Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Computer Engineering, Materials, Physics, or Information Technology) and 10+ years of experience or Master's Degree in the same and 8+ years' experience or PhD and 6+ years' experience or equivalent experience and education

Location:

This position can be based out of either Shakopee, MN, Normandale, MN or Longmont, CO.

Our Shakopee campus is located 25 minutes southwest of Minneapolis in a setting with a rural vibe - it overlooks a horse racing track and stables, yet it has great entertainment venues close by as well. Colorado's 2021 Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (SB 19-085) requires we inform you of the estimated base salary range for this position is: $144,435.00 to $214,500.00. Actual salary range is based on fair market value of the role in the geography in which you live based on the requirements of the job and your skills. This posted salary range is a good faith and reasonable estimate, and Seagate reserves the right to adjust this range depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
