Job Title: Custodian

FLSA Status: Full Time - non-exempt
Reports to: Kitchen Manager

Schedule: FT, TBD
Supervises: N/A

Closing Date: 2/24/2024

Rate of Pay: $21.66/hour

Benefits: Standard; Full-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:

  • Sick leave benefit - 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire)
  • Vacation benefit - 10 vacation days per year, accrued at the rate of .0385 hours for each hour worked, excluding overtime (accrual begins at hire but may not be used until the completion of six months of employment)
  • One floating day off for use (accrued immediately, and again annually, but may not be used until the completion of the initial three-month introductory period of employment)
  • Pension Plan (after one year of continuous service)
  • Voluntary Tax-Deferred Annuity Plan (403(b)plan)

Function:

This position is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the dishes and supplies needed to prepare and serve meals. This position will perform daily tasks including washing dishes, janitorial & kitchen cleaning, and others assigned by the supervisor. This position does require weekend and holiday shifts. Must be responsible and a self-starter. Must show respect to other employees, and associates, clients and the goals and objectives of The Salvation Army.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Wash all dishes, silverware, pots and pans as needed.
  2. Maintain dishwasher in a clean and sanitized manner.
  3. Assist in maintaining all company equipment in proper working order, as well as in a sanitary condition.
  4. Work with other staff/volunteers to maintain the kitchen following health and safety standards.
  5. Receive food deliveries and stock in the appropriate location.
  6. At the end of each shift, make sure all floors are swept and mopped and all doors securely closed and locked.
  7. Present a professional demeanor that communicates a corporate philosophy of service, goodwill, and genuine interest in each client's needs.
  8. Will assist, as necessary, in implementing the rules of the Harbor Light program.
  9. Other duties as assigned. This description should not be interpreted as all inclusive. It is intended to identify the major responsibilities and requirements of this position. Education/Work Experience:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Restaurant experience preferred.
  3. Excellent interpersonal skills
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
