We currently have a potential vacancy for a Law Clerk / Attorney to support on-going criminal and civil health care fraud prosecutions. A Law Clerk / Attorney performs, but is not limited to the following duties:
  • Assist the Assistant U.S. Attorneys (AUSAs) in their work in litigating civil and criminal cases in federal district court and the Tenth Circuit to enforce laws relating to health care fraud and civil opioid matters.
  • Assist AUSAs in preparing for court hearings, meetings with opposing counsel, depositions, settlement conferences, client meetings, and other events that occur in the U.S. Attorney's Office.
  • Review documents, conduct legal research, and draft pleadings, discovery documents and legal memoranda addressing a variety of federal criminal and civil issues, with a particular focus on civil and criminal prosecutions of health care fraud against COVID-19 relief programs and civil opioid matters pursued under the False Claims Act and Controlled Substances Act.
  • Other duties as assigned
An Attorney must meet the following qualifications:
  • Requires a JD degree; Bar admission is not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize law library resources and working knowledge of research tools.
  • Demonstrated excellent legal writing skills, requires excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in common software applications.
  • Up to 10 hours of overtime may be required per week.
  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
This position requires U.S. Citizenship and a 7 (or 10) year minimum background investigation.

This includes all criminal prosecutions for violations of federal law, civil lawsuits by and against the government, and actions to collect judgments and restitution on behalf of victims and taxpayers. Target salary range: $65,098.00 - $71,028.00. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
