This position will directly support the Department of Energy's (DOE) office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Water Power Technologies Office (WPTO) in project management activities, including, but not limited to, Funding Opportunity Announcements, project management, and technical support for competitively selected cooperative agreements. Support involves daily interactions with internal parties such as legal, contracting, NEPA, and communications, as well as external communication with project recipients in academia, private industry, and National Laboratories.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist with project management of national laboratory & competitive funded R&D:
    • Themes include hydropower, fish passage, environmental impact assessment, sustainability science, water quality, river restoration, fisheries.
    • Critical reviews and evaluations of project deliverables and R&D plans and priorities.
    • Management of scope, time, and budgets.
    • Supporting project communications plans/ outreach and engagement and coordination with WPTO to increase impact.
    • Advising on science and technology best practices.
  • Support interagency working groups with information requests, scheduling, plan development, presentations, and reporting.
  • Assist WPTO development of strategic plans for Environmental R&D.
    • Horizon scanning for new technologies and applications .
    • Literature reviews and documentation.
    • Development of out-year research plans/themes.
    • Outreach and engagement with industry, NGOs, resource and regulatory agencies, academia, tribes, states, and other stakeholders.
      • Developing presentations, data visualizations, and other outreach materials.
      • Facilitation and workshop support.
      • Manage relationships with federal and national laboratory staff, small businesses, and industry partners.
    • Conference participation and preparation support.
    • Support budget requests and planning.
  • Support WPTO program administrative processes.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in related fields such as environmental engineering, ecology, hydrology, environmental science, and biology.
  • Experience in fish passage, biological sampling, and habitat restoration.
  • Experience working with stakeholder for environmental management, species monitoring or renewable energy permitting.
  • Self-starter and ability to work both independently and as part of a highly dynamic collaborative team.
  • 5 years' experience.

Location/Work Arrangement:

  • Washington DC or Golden, CO.
  • Hybrid work environment requiring going into the office minimum of 1 day per week (Tuesdays).

Starting compensation for this role typically salary ranges between $90,000 and $120,000 annually is commensurate with experience relative to the position and may vary based on candidate geographical location.
