The Manager, Compensation covers over 2,000 Western Union colleagues spanning across the US, Canada, and the Americas and is responsible for the analysis of and administration for compensation programs for all Western Union business units/locations operating within the region. This role is based in Denver and reports to the Director, Global Compensation. The Manager acts as a functional advisor and will partner with the HR leaders in the region to develop and implement system-wide compensation programs under the guidance of the overall company philosophy. This role requires innovation, excellent communication and relationship management with a heavy emphasis on compensation management.

Responsible for participating in the design, development and implementation of policies and programs of the Compensation function. Ensures programs are internally consistent and standardized, externally competitive, fiscally responsible, and are consistent with the strategic direction of the overall compensation philosophy. Provides guidance in the planning, organizing, developing, implementing and evaluation of region-wide Compensation policies, practices, and procedures, in accordance with applicable contracts, laws, system and institutional policies and procedures. Acts as a consultant to HR Partners and Line Managers regarding all aspects of pay issues, including compensation program design and evaluation, ad hoc market analysis, jobs evaluation, etc.

The incumbent will be participating in program design with HR peers as well as with corporate compensation experts. Moreover, s/he will work closely with the corporate compensation team on global projects and also to ensure appropriate consistency across the region.

Role Responsibilities

  • Conducts an annual benchmarking review, leveraging data from survey sources to determine internal and external competitiveness.
  • Utilizes data-driven insights and comprehensive analytics to recommend and implement best practices in the development, administration, and implementation of performance-based compensation programs.
  • Designs and delivers ad hoc compensation analyses for the People Team and the business, focusing on actionable insights.
  • Takes a leadership role in delivering the global annual compensation planning process (annual review base pay, bonus, equity awards)
  • Manages the development of dynamic salary structures and provides market pricing recommendations to ensure competitiveness.
  • Evaluates and market prices each role within the Regional area responsible throughout the year, ensuring accurate job matches, salary ranges are market competitive and aligned with market
  • Enhances market knowledge by actively participating in wage surveys and spot-surveys, staying updated on industry compensation trends.

Role Requirements

  • Minimum of eight to ten years of progressively increasing Compensation design and management experience.
  • Must have experience in successfully assessing, developing, and implementing the principals of compensation in an organizational setting, exercising responsibility in monitoring and complying with local regulations, compensation/benefits administration, and communication.
  • Requires a high level of interpersonal communication skills to be able to work and assist managers and employees throughout the Region as well as influence senior leaders. In-depth knowledge of compensation within the region is critical.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent commercial education as well as a CCP or GRP certification or equivalent required.

Salary

The base salary range is $100,000-140,000 USD per year, total on target compensation includes a base salary and short-term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on candidates' qualifications, skills, and competencies
