Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, the Graduate Education Finance Coordinator assists with the budget and educational contract management of Denver Health sponsored residencies and fellowships, as well as educational programs sponsored by affiliate sites. Responsibilities include long-term budget and contract planning, maintaining databases, developing standardization across programs, communicating with key stakeholders, identifying improvement opportunities, and managing internal and external relationships.

Essential Functions:
  • Provides financial support to graduate level training programs. Serves as liaison for appropriate Denver Health staff and affiliate institution Graduate Medical Education (GME) offices. *Reviews invoices received from affiliate institutions for accuracy and works with appropriate stakeholders to resolve errors. *Ensures invoices issued to other institutions are paid according to invoice terms. *Reviews day to day expenditures associated with all Denver Health-sponsored graduate education program budgets. *Reviews meal card budget expenditures for Denver Health and visiting residents by gathering meal card data and coordinating with Denver Health Food Services staff on meal card issuance. (20%)
  • Provides recommendations for budget standardization across all Denver Health graduate education training programs. *Establishes standards for residency and fellowship budget line items. *Establishes standards for graduate education program leadership payment models. (10%)
  • Executes Affiliate Agreements and Program Letter of Agreements (PLAs) between Denver Health and affiliate institutions. *Produces and maintains a systematic process for tracking and maintaining all graduate education contracts, including requirements specific to each contract. *Delivers regular reports to Director of Clinical Education with status of all graduate education contracts. (10%)
  • Maintains Denver Health residency and fellowship program information in residency management system for correct federal reimbursement cost reporting. Collaborates with residency and fellowship program coordinators to ensure schedule accuracy. (10%)
  • Collaborates with Denver Health's Compensation team to deliver appropriate stipends to Denver Health graduate education trainees. *Ensures stipends are benchmarked regularly and appropriately using national, regional, and/or local market data. *Gathers information from residency and fellowship program coordinators during onboarding and transitions to place trainees in the correct pay grade category and communicates the information to Compensation. (10%)
  • Identify and document protected time for GME site directors and faculty based at Denver Health. Prepare summary report for Director of Clinical Education annually. (5%)
  • Assists Director of Clinical Education in gathering data for annual University of Colorado resident and fellow budget expansion requests. (5%)
  • Provides training as appropriate to Denver Health staff to ensure alignment with graduate education trainee processes and procedures. (5%)
  • Identifies issues with processes, determines the cause of the issue, and implements solutions. (5%)
  • Implements and executes strategies related to process changes, ensuring that changes occur across all departments. (5%)
  • Facilitates and manages requests, complaints, and communications with graduate education stakeholders. Exercises good judgment, discretion, and diplomacy in communications. (5%)
  • Supports quarterly GME Committee meetings and other related meetings as needed. (5%)
  • Attends formal educational classes as required by Denver Health. Pursues learning opportunities to enhance performance. (5%)

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree equivalent of combination of education, experience, and training can be substituted. Required

Work Experience:
  • 4-6 years in budget and contract management, preferably in an academic healthcare setting
