Director, Strategic Sourcing

DaVita Inc. is a Fortune 500 company, that through its operating divisions, provides a variety of health care services to patient populations throughout the United States and abroad. We are currently seeking a Director of Strategic Sourcing. They will be responsible for developing a strategic approach to sourcing and the corporate procurement of direct goods and services. Our ideal candidate will ensure the development and maintenance of category strategies, direct strategic sourcing initiatives, and assist team members with procurement processes, changes, and updates other procurement-related activities. This position will play a critical role in assisting the Senior Director and Vice President of Procurement in setting the strategic vision for the future of DaVita's procurement while working with internal stakeholders to identify constituents' needs, develop and implement strategies to meet those needs, promote a positive teammate and customer experience, and execute fiscal responsibility. This position must also uphold the Core Values of DaVita and comply with DaVita policies and regulations.

LOCATION:

  • Preferred Denver, CO

  • Also open to Nashville/Brentwood, TN and Irvine, CA (with travel to Denver approximately one week per month)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Procurement Strategy:
  • Develop and communicate a procurement business plan.

  • Establish, communicate, and implement long-term goals set by senior management for the department in order to promote effectiveness and efficiency

  • Assist the Senior Director and Vice President of Procurement with contract negotiations and administration

  • Develop and implement procurement-related training programs for the procurement team and organization

  • Develop extensive market knowledge and deep understanding of the assigned industries and categories.

  • Develop category strategies that have measurable impact on the achievement of business results, increase our innovation pipeline, drive cost savings and influence industries to transform themselves.

  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives including RF(x), supplier selection, negotiations, and supplier relationship/performance management

  • Help lead, hire and develop a high-performing procurement team. Drive performance management and clarity on business objectives to deliver results

  • Deep Procurement strategy expertise in one of the following areas: 1) Direct/Clinical Supplies experience, 2) Clinical/Pharmaceutical Procurement experience, 3) Distribution/Logistics Category experience.

Procurement Operations:
  • Effectively utilize all procurement IT systems, requirements & roadmap (e.g., P2P Systems, ERP)

  • Plan and monitor contract commitments to deliver most optimal outcomes

  • Expand Procurement areas of influence across the enterprise

  • Assist in reducing critical supplies risk exposure across the enterprise

  • Serve as the primary contact for procurement related questions, training, policy and procedure interpretation and alignment by all departments

  • Manage current procurement policies, procedures, and programs with a focus on their ability to enhance organizational value and efficiency

  • Assist the Senior Director and Vice President of Procurement with DaVita procurement execution (RF(X)s, contracts, performance to targets, etc.)

  • Establish communication channels to ensure efficient escalation and problem-solving processes

  • Manage large scale distribution, pharma or critical supplies projects and partner on change management

Optimization, Data & Analytics:
  • Assist the Senior Director and Vice President of Procurement with creating cost and control initiatives, in partnership with teams to realize spend reduction opportunities.

  • Drive continuous improvement in direct supplies material procurement and contracting.

  • Support the regular budgeting and forecasting activity to ensure value creation is captured.

  • Drive disciplined Category management across the team.

  • Facilitate and coach categories on problem solving, definition, and follow-up of mitigation actions in case of deviations.

  • Define adherence and enforcement of Category process & strategies.

  • Drive reporting, action tracking, and data analysis activities under agreed reporting frames to support business decisions.

  • Identify internal process issues that directly / indirectly impact vendor's ability to provide supplies on time

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Effective communication skills to convey complex information to others.

  • Drives group to ensure all ideas are represented, but steers towards action and decision.

  • Provide constructive feedback, motivate, and mentor their team.

  • Innovative mindset and thinking of ways to improve current processes and user experience.

  • Creates an environment of trust, transparency, and quick decisions with the ability to pivot understanding the needs of the business and risks at hand.

  • Proven ability to deliver results in decentralized environments, with ability to work across.

  • Category management and strategic sourcing.

  • Knowledge of virtual platforms for learning and collaboration an advantage.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Master's degree preferred

  • 7-10 years in Procurement or Supply Chain Management role or consulting

  • Enterprise procurement software experience strongly preferred (e.g., P2P Systems, ERP)

  • Previous experience within category management or strategic sourcing or management consulting

  • Healthcare experience preferred, but not required

Salary/ Wage Range

$121,200.00-$177,900.00 / year

Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
