Position Summary

The Department of Human Services and Counseling at Metropolitan State University of Denver is seeking applications for a full-time, 9 month Clinical Director for our new Masters in Clinical Behavioral Health, Emphasis in Addictions Counseling Program. This position will begin in August 2024 with the start of the 2024/2025 academic year and has the opportunity for renewal.

In addition to teaching in the graduate programs, the position will provide leadership in the development and management of the graduate counselor training program. The nature of this position requires the employee to be on-site and have an outward presence for students, faculty, and staff. Responsibilities

Academic Year

Administration (40%)

This position will include credit 12 hours per academic year of re-assigned time to provide clinical and administrative oversight of graduate clinical training program; including supervising graduate trainees and personnel assigned to the clinic. The Clinical Director will secure counseling space, facilitate referral of students from the MSU-Denver Counseling Center, and make clinical assignments for all trainees. Other administrative functions include assisting the department chair on the clinic budget, evaluating and supervising clinic personnel, coordinating field placements with the Director of Field Education, and promoting inter-professional collaboration with other campus clinics and healthcare disciplines. The Clinical Director is also responsible for updating the clinic handbook and ensuring ethical, legal, and administrative policy compliance for all relevant accreditors, including oversight of records in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA expectations. This position works collaboratively with all faculty.

Teaching (60%)

The successful applicant will teach 18 credit hours per academic year in the Human Services and Counseling graduate programs or determined by departmental needs which is decided by the Department Chair. Depending on degree and licensure, the applicant will focus on addiction related courses. Teaching may include face-to-face, on-line or hybrid teaching. Face-to-face and/or synchronous teaching will include day, evening and weekend courses as This position may be asked to teach during the summer depending on the program needs which is decided by the department Chair. Summer teaching will be on a different contract with summer pay.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Counseling Education and Supervision (Ed. D.); or, a Doctorate degree in Clinical Supervisor Education (CSE), preferably from a CACREP-accredited program; or, a Doctorate in Human Services, Behavioral Health Sciences, Psychology, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or any other related field; or, have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013; or, have been employed as a full-time doctoral-level faculty member in a CORE-accredited master's program prior to July 1, 2017; or, have graduated from a rehabilitation doctoral program prior to January 1, 2018.
  • Behavioral Health License (LAC, LPC, LFMT, LCSW)
  • Two years' experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Counseling Education and Supervision (Ed. D.)
  • Willing to work on obtaining a license or certification (CAS, LAC) or have the out of state equivalent that can readily transfer to the state of Colorado within one year of hire.
  • Experience with CACREP accreditation process
  • Experience with academic, counselor training programs

Salary for Announcement

The salary range for this position is $54,000 - $59,000 at Lecturer level. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty and training.
