The Program Engineering Manager will be primarily responsible for proactively managing the overall relationship between strategic hyperscale data center clients and E2 Optics' program engineering objectives. This position will manage engineering efforts and activities across national program projects impacting mission-critical infrastructure for respective clients' data center portfolios. The Program Engineering Manager leads engineering objectives for complex, multi-million-dollar new construction, and retrofit, hyperscale data center projects and is responsible for identifying program requirements, operational integrity, engaging with internal customers and
supporting the program through the entire project lifecycle. The Program Engineering Manager will be tasked with developing scalable programs to support the organization's strategic direction, as well as creating and managing long-term goals. The Program Engineering Manager is also responsible for working with field Project Engineering operations for staffing the appropriate resources required to meet client expectations for fully functional systems, across multiple lines of business, and processes for delivering on budget and on time. The Program Engineering Manager oversees the respective processes regarding initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, and project closing. The Program Engineering Manager will be working in both new build construction and operational environments. Turnkey project implementation may include some or all E2 Optics solutions.
Core Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for driving relationship strategy for E2 Optics within strategic accounts nationwide.
  • Meet goals and metrics in accordance with the mission and goals of the Executive Leadership.
  • Drives collaboration with the company's Safety, Quality, Cost Controls, Continuous Improvement and Operations Teams to ensure delivery of successful projects in excellence, on time and on budget.
  • Developed and oversee evaluation methods to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement.
  • Produce accurate and timely reporting of program status throughout its life cycle.
  • Oversees project proposals, contracts, finances and ensures profitability is being maximized.
  • Acts as the primary point of escalation before escalating to corporate management.
  • Develops strong relationships with regional and corporate customer personnel.
  • Coordinates and runs monthly and quarterly presentations as requested by the customer.
  • Supports program engineering objectives by: Providing training, coaching, and motivation to Project Engineering staff.
  • Assists Project Engineers in identifying areas of improvement and propose corrective actions that meet challenges and leverage growth opportunities.
  • Develops programmatic processes utilizing industry best practices for design review and constructability analysis to support estimating and engineering efforts.
  • Addresses customer and employee satisfaction issues promptly.
  • Adheres to high ethical standards and complies with all regulations/applicable laws.
  • Prioritize communication and collaboration both internally and externally.
  • Coordinates with corporate human resources, information technology and administration as needed to accomplish business objectives and meet legal and compliance requirements.
  • Develop and foster strong relationships with customers, vendors, manufacturers, and distribution partners.
  • Travel: The individual in this role should be able and willing to occasionally travel as required by E2 Optics and/or the customer(s).
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Sciences, Management or Engineering is preferred
  • PMP certification preferred
  • RCDD or DCDC certification is highly preferred
  • BICSI Technician Certified preferred
  • OSHA 10 required. OSHA 30 is preferred
  • First Aid and CPR certified preferred
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate will 7-10+yearsofconstruction/telecommunications/data center industry experience with a strong background in multiple facets of technology, having focused on engineering, pre-construction activities and estimating.
  • Demonstrated experience with program management, leadership, scheduling, cost control and risk and opportunity management.
  • In-depth understanding of hyperscale engineering requirements, such as data center design, construction and operations, infrastructure installations with safety and quality protocols.
  • Proven project management experience on time, on budget, with safety and quality being the main focus.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting an environment of world-class client focus, transparency, and collaboration.
  • Experience with security, audio visual, video teleconferencing, wireless communications preferred.
  • Experience with project estimating and engineering is highly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilitlies
  • Decision Making and Judgment: This position requires the ability to assess information and interpersonal interactions to negotiate business decisions that meet or exceed client expectations while supporting profitability and on-time project delivery for E2 Optics. This position involves considerable decision-making authority and creative problem- solving skills regarding processes, procedures, planning, and scheduling. Although there are sometimes problem-solving guidelines for problems, there may be no existing procedures or instructions for those problems.
  • Strong leadership, human resources management and conflict resolutions skills.

  • Proficient in using a computer, Microsoft Office applications(Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, Projects, etc.),Bluebeam, and has the ability to learn other complex software platforms as needed to drive strategic business objectives.
  • Ability to use and operate Autodesk applications i.e., AutoCAD and Revit are a plus.
  • Familiarity and knowledge in Building Information Modeling(BIM) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) processes is preferred.
  • Ability to understand and effectively quote every aspect of structured cabling systems including pathways, spaces, horizontal cabling, backbone copper, backbone fiber optic, cross and inter-connections, and testing.
  • Proficient with reading, understanding, and interpreting complex design documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of data center infrastructure industry including technology, quality and safety standards.
  • Ability to supervise and train employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  • Knowledge of the PMBOK Guides and Standards.
  • Familiarity with industry's rules and regulations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The standard work environment for this position is an indoors business office and construction environment. Ability to use a computer and/or hand tools while sitting or standing for extended periods of time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk or hear, use hands, stoop, kneel, bend, rotate, push, pull, reach with hands and arms on intermittent to regular basis daily. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must regularly carry and climb ladders to 20 feet. The employee may be required to work in tight, confided spaces. The employee must demonstrate regular and on-time attendance. There could be a requirement of occasional travel by conventional means including aircraft, motor vehicle and the like within the region and to other locations as required. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
