Job summary

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Technical Lead, Contract Manager within KBI's Global Business Development Team. In this dynamic position, you will collaborate closely with the legal department, business development representatives, proposal writers, and other teams across various business segments.

The role involves managing contract execution, ensuring compliance, and managing amendments, emphasizing effective communication with clients and internal teams to align on project goals. Promptly addressing contract issues is crucial to meet deadlines and mitigate risks. Additionally, the position requires expertise in contract concessions and meticulous alignment with corporate processes. Providing regular updates on contract status to key stakeholders and maintaining contract management through designated systems are essential. Emphasis is placed on proactive identification and implementation of operational improvements, including leading projects related to contract system development. Guidance and support are provided to sales/business development teams, with participation in contract review meetings and assistance in template development and maintenance as necessary.

This position requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.

This position supports a global team and will require flexibility in work schedule to accommodate various time zones.

Job Responsibilities
  • Ownership of contract execution, compliance monitoring and managing amendments or extensions as necessary.

  • Collaborating with clients, internal teams, and other relevant parties to ensure clear communication and alignment on project goals and requirements.

  • Address outstanding contract issues promptly to adhere to deadlines, mitigate business and legal risks.

  • Authority to advice on standard concessions within KBI's contracts including the ability to decline, approve and negotiate contract terms.

  • Scrutinize contractual terms and provisions to ensure alignment with corporate processes, guidelines, and policies, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail.

  • Support management and business development in maintaining cohesive contract processes and fostering client relationships.

  • Providing regular updates to stakeholders on contract status, milestones achieved, and any potential issues or risks.

  • Maintain contract management through designated systems or tracking mechanisms.

  • Proactively identify and implement operational improvements and enhancements that align with business needs.

  • Taking the lead on projects that involve the development, implementation, or optimization of contract systems, products, or services.

  • Provide guidance and support to sales/BD teams or other departments in understanding and implementing technical solutions or processes.

  • Participate and advise colleagues during contract review meetings.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of contract templates.

Responsibility / Approximate % of Time

Ownership of contract execution, compliance monitoring and managing amendments or extensions as necessary. 40%

Provide timely and accurate updates on all pending contractual documents to key stakeholders and within the contract management systems. 20%

Address outstanding contract issues promptly to adhere to deadlines, mitigate business and legal risks and serve as a subject matter expert on standard concessions within KBI's contracts. 20%

Taking the lead on projects that involve the development, implementation, or optimization of contract systems, products, or services. 20%

Minimum Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • 4+ years' experience in contract writing or process development/management.

  • 2+ years' client facing experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Science.

  • Proficient in both written and oral communication.

  • Proactive problem-solver with a self-starting attitude.

  • Exceptional organizational, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Thrive in an environment where you are given autonomy to find creative solutions to complex problems.

  • Possess a keen ability to innovate and execute, leveraging your creativity and resourcefulness to bring ideas to fruition.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service and a collaborative work approach.

  • Capable of managing multiple tasks, adapting to new responsibilities, and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment.

  • Comfortable engaging with individuals at all levels of the organization, including senior management.

  • Experienced with Microsoft Office suite and electronic signature platforms such as DocuSign and Adobe Sign.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Salesforce and Kanbanboard

  • CDMO or biopharma experience

Language Ability

Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents, policies and procedures and correspondence. Ability to apply proper grammar, spelling, punctuation and format to typed materials. Ability to write routine reports and documents Must have strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables and in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of

instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

Ability to operate computer applications (i.e. Microsoft Office/365, Intranet software, Adobe) with an interest and ability to learn additional programs as necessary. Ability to operate business equipment including personal computers, copy machines, conference room equipment, and telephones.

Salary Range: $75,446 - 103,737

Salary range provided per current averages and expectations. The salary and job title for this opening will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience and may be outside this range.
