The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. The Coalition advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being, and stability of those it serves.

The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless currently seeks a Property Accountant III who is responsible for assisting Property Accounting Manager in the preparation of monthly financial statements, annual compliance (audit and tax), and ad hoc reporting as needed for CCH and its managed properties. The Property Accountant III is responsible for completing timely and accurate journal entries, allocations, reconciliations, and general ledger review for management, Board of Directors, investors, and lenders. This position provides support to other Property Accountants on their reconciliation questions as needed and assists with general ledger maintenance, recording financial accounting activity, project and other accounts reconciliation, accounts payable, and prepaid/fixed assets for CCH and its managed properties. This position also helps to ensure that all financial records are accurately maintained by entity (i.e. partnerships, Coalition properties) according to generally accepted accounting principles. This position is located at 2111 Champa Street, Denver, CO 80205 and reports to the Property Accounting Manager.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Monitors financial activity and provides financial input and guidance to property managers to ensure property activity is accurately recorded.
  2. Assists Manager in monitoring all financial processes and procedures to ensure that internal controls are satisfactory and do not display any material weaknesses.
  3. Assists in the preparation of monthly financial statements and ensuring accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance to internal policies.
  4. Develops and implements processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness within the Accounting Department and with Property Management.
  5. Ensures balance sheet accounts (including fixed assets, prepaids, notes receivable and payable, and intercompany activity) are reconciled and record JE's as needed.
  6. Assists in preparing and providing documentation for annual audits.
  7. Performs financial analysis of accounts as needed.
  8. Maintains property tax schedules.

Qualifications Summary
