Job Description
Summary

As an Entitlements Specialist with Under Canvas, you are responsible for furthering the growth and development goals of Under Canvas by advising on target markets; supporting due diligence efforts during acquisition phase; and managing the procurement of agency approvals and entitlements necessary for future camp properties.

Responsibilities
  • Independently manage end to end property entitlement responsibilities including identifying, applying for, and negotiating any and all planning and entitlement permits, environmental permits and other requirements in order to achieve the desired construction development goals
  • Lead day-to-day management of project-specific land planning and entitlement efforts from site identification through completion of construction
  • Provide expertise on permitting and entitlement feasibility as it pertains to assessing viability of new markets
  • Establish and achieve target timelines as input to real property negotiations and due diligence efforts during acquisition phase
  • Identify, contract and lead multi-disciplinary consulting teams in preparation and processing of land use and all other entitlement permits
  • Manage to project budget, schedules, and track all permit fees agencies, counties, and municipalities throughout the project
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (e.g. Engineering information from Project Managers, Operations, and Design team) to confirm permit requirements are achievable with all parties
  • Organize and maintain all relevant permit and approval information to create hindsight database and measure agency approval trends and best practices
  • Communicate openly and maintain responsiveness with heads of county/municipal departments responsible for approvals and permitting
  • Partner on community outreach plans and implementation
  • Other duties as assigned

Education
  • Bachelor's in planning, architecture, or real estate
  • Advanced Degree (i.e. Masters in Planning Masters in Real Estate Development) is a plus
Working Conditions
  • Travel required 50%
  • When on location ability to work in all outdoor working and weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years' generalist experience in Land Development, Entitlements, and Planning
  • Knowledge of various state environmental permitting processes, competitive trends, and public relations as it pertains to development projects strongly preferred
  • A seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization
  • Advanced technical skills required including presentation development, spreadsheet analysis, project and data management software
  • Must exercise initiative and independently understand tasks and project scope, requirements, and risk
  • Must be comfortable with public speaking, with advanced diplomatic skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to handle a multitude of projects simultaneously
Additional Information
  • This position is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle records check, if requested by Under Canvas.
  • Projects are assigned based on complexity of the market.
