The Manufacturing Engineer Senior position is part of the Manufacturing Engineering (ME) group supporting machining and assembly operations. A significant focus for this role will be improving processes that drive positive results for our business metrics: safety, on-time delivery, cost of poor quality, and continuous improvement savings. This position will have responsibility for manufacturing data analysis, supporting or leading continuous improvement projects, capital expenditure projects and tasks, and a variety of other contributing roles. As part of the ME group, this role will also have the opportunity to develop CAD/CAM skills to support our machining process owners, as well as our assembly & test processes.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify and drive Continuous Improvement (CI) cost savings initiatives.
  • Key participant in the identification, justification, procurement, testing and implementation of capital equipment investments.
  • Lead analysis of machine/process utilization data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead investigation, root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions related to significant internal issues, customer complaints or third-party audits.
  • Lead cross functional teams in the application of Lean and Six Sigma concepts and tools to identify and eliminate waste, variation and bottlenecks in the machining and manufacturing processes.
  • Key participant in executing all aspects of production traceability and configuration control including changes/corrections to bills of materials, shop-floor routings, technical work instructions, NC programs and inspection & test plans.
  • Key participant in the NCM (Non-Conforming Material) disposition process.

Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated problem solving techniques.
  • Proficiency with Excel and data analysis tools.
  • Training and experience in Lean Manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Superior time management skills.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of machining and/or manufacturing processes.
  • Ability and interest to learn and apply CAD/CAM software.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering or other technical discipline required. Suitable experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience working in a similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a machining/metal cutting environment or assembly of industrial equipment preferred.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software preferred.

  • This position is an office/factory hybrid role.
  • Ability to lift thirty-five pounds unassisted.
  • Indoor office & factory environment. Sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting are common.

Compensation Details

Annual Salary: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00

Additional Compensation

The Salary offered will be determined based on the applicant's education, experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, and will be compared with internal equity along with market data for this position. This position may be eligible for an annual bonus through the company bonus program. This position may also be eligible to receive a Relocation bonus, payable as a taxable lump sum, in accordance with the Sundyne Relocation Policy.
