Brown and Caldwell seeks a Construction Engineer with some experience with Design services During Construction (DSDC) or construction management in infrastructure construction projects (sewer/water). The Construction Project Engineering function is an essential member of the overall project delivery team. This role will have high visibility with clients working directly with design engineers and contractors for field engineering support during construction. This role will support many aspects of the project while developing the necessary management skills required to engage in greater project leadership within the organization.

The candidate will require effective communication skills. The effective execution of this role will include support of both senior project management as well coordination with design discipline leads. The successful candidate will be based two to three days at the field site and the remaining days will be flexible. Candidates with engineering background with ability to be involved with design as well as construction services would be highly desired.

Detailed Description:

This role will support a wide range of tasks during the overall life cycle of a project; initial Primary focus will be on delivering infrastructure construction project solutions to clients. The successful candidate will work closely with the project lead, and associated project management and technical staff.

Primary responsibilities to include:

  • Perform construction management oversight and administration tasks, including supporting the Project Manager, engineers, inspectors and project assistant as needed
  • Investigate/research engineering and construction issues to determine potential solutions and associated cost/schedule/performance ramifications
  • Expedite submittal and RFI responses, including technical and administrative functions
  • Coordinate in the field with clients/owners, consultants, contractors, designers and regulatory agencies
  • Participate in progress meetings to review and discuss construction activities, progress, and issues

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in the environmental consulting industry
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required
  • BS in engineering or construction management, environmental/civil engineering, or related discipline required
  • EIT required.
  • Flexibility in performing a variety of tasks in a timely and efficient manner to complete an assignment.
  • Must be able to successfully manage and deliver on multiple tasks with competing priorities.
  • Excellent computer skills and the use of software including but not limited to standard computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint MS Project, and Navisworks 2013 (or newer), BIM 360, Bluebeam, and database management tools
  • Strong verbal/written communication and organizational skills working with multidisciplinary teams, including clients and fellow staff members.
  • Ability to travel to work sites regionally initially 50% of the time
  • Ability to remain alert and vigilant while working around construction equipment and be able to walk swiftly for a short distance to clear an area where a potential hazard is identified.
  • Ability to climb stairs (2-3 flights) or ladders (up to 24 feet typically) to access structures for visual inspection.
  • Ability to walk slowly around a construction site of varying size that may have areas of uneven, muddy, and/or rocky ground to perform inspections and take photographs.
  • Ability to perform field work in adverse conditions as needed.
  • Ability to work for short periods of time in extreme temperatures including heat and cold.
  • Ability to wear required safety equipment at sites including hard hats, steel toed boots (or other approved toe protection), etc.

Salary Range:Theanticipatedstarting payrange for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and maybemore or lessdependingupon skills, experience,and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $24.40- $33.50
Location B: $26.90 - $36.90
Location C: $29.30- $40.20
