Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8am - 4:30pm; some evenings, some weekends, Modified School Schedule

JOB SUMMARY:

The Excel Center is the first Free in-seat High School for adult learners 22 years of age and older in Colorado who have not earned a high school diploma.

Under the direction of the school director, the Special Education Instructor Coordinator will plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for students with disabilities in accordance with a student's past Individual Education Program (IEP) and current 504 status (for those who may have aged out of the system). This position is responsible for creating a flexible program and learning environment that provides specialized instruction for students with disabilities, such that the students benefit from the general education curriculum to the greatest extent possible when supported with supplemental aides, accommodations, and other needed supports. The position will work with the instructional team in meeting the educational objectives and adhering to the Colorado State Standards.

This role demonstrates behaviors consistent with our Mission, Vision, and Values, on behalf of Goodwill of Colorado. This is a full-time, year-round, in-person position at our school located in Aurora, Colorado. Applicants must reside in Colorado and work from the Aurora facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Provide coordination for special education services and coordination of referrals to outside resources.

* Accommodate the general education curriculum for students with disabilities based on various instructional techniques and technologies.

* Maintain accurate and compliant student records and prepare documentation as required by law.

* Hold case conference committee meetings to assist in developing measurable goals, benchmarks, and objectives to meet students' needs.

* Regularly monitor the implementation of the student's accommodations and provide progress reports to the student and/or family.

* Develop compliant and comprehensive transition plans.

* Communicate student's accommodations to general education staff.

* Ensure any needed accommodations and modifications on district, statewide, and national assessments are implemented according to the student's progress.

* Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

* Degree and Credential Requirements: Bachelor's degree in special education; Licensed in special education-mild and/or intense certification required.

Experience:

* Experience and understanding in IEP's and transitioning into 504 regulations; preferred.

* Demonstrates an understanding of federal, state, and local mandates governing the determination and delivery of special education services.

* Experience completing observations and reports about learning behaviors of students.

Other:

* Possesses a working knowledge of computer programs to perform clerical tasks: Google applications (specifically Gmail, Google Docs, etc.), Excel, Word, and Internet Explorer.

* Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly preferred.

* Customer Service: Is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers; gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services; acts with customers in mind; establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect.

* Communication Skills: Articulates thoughts and expresses ideas effectively using oral, written, visual, and non-verbal communication skills, as well as listening skills to comprehend others' needs. Delivers information in person, in writing, and in a digital world. Must have the ability to network with community partners and speak to large audiences. Bilingual abilities are a plus.

* Organizational Aptitude: Plans and attends to details and pursue quality in accomplishing multiple tasks in an organized and timely fashion. Exhibits careful attention to detail and follow-through.

* Technical Knowledge: Has working knowledge of G Suite and MS Office, as well as student Information Systems.

* Informed Decision-Making: Identifies and comprehends issues, problems, and opportunities; compares data from different sources to draw conclusions; uses effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; takes action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences.

* Information Monitoring/Reporting/Design: Creates, collects, reviews, and maintains information to manage or improve the achievement of learning goals.

* Adaptability: Maintains effectiveness when experiencing shifts in priorities; adjusts effectively while maintaining a positive learning environment.
