The Disability Management Manager is responsible for the overall management of Nutrien's occupational and non-occupational disability program, policies and processes.

The Disability Management Manager partners with internal and external stakeholders, including management, human resources, occupational health and safety, union representatives and benefit carriers, and plays a critical role in supporting employees experiencing illness or injury and facilitating workplace accommodations and return to work.

Location: Loveland-CO, Saskatoon-SK, Calgary-AB

What you will do:

  • Communicate with employees and managers regarding the disability management program
  • Maintain oversight of external disability management program stakeholders; reviewing and updating contracts as necessary.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and strategic input to internal stakeholders regarding occupational and non-occupational disability benefits, processes and expectations.
  • Review workplace accommodation requests and modified return to work plans and work with stakeholders to explore and implement workplace accommodations and modified return to work plans.
  • Develop, implement and maintain disability management program policies and processes according to Nutrien's requirements and industry best practices; monitor adherence to established processes and timelines; and ensure consistent handling among multiple sites.
  • Partner with disability carriers to ensure proactive case management, adherence to established processes and timelines, and successful return to work outcomes.
  • Interpret collective bargaining agreements relative to disability management and applicable laws.
  • Provide strategic input to labor relations team as it relates to plan design.
  • Maintain a broad and up-to-date knowledge and understanding of legislation pertaining to disability management, as well as regional disability management resources and industry best practices.
  • Educate and partner with internal stakeholders regarding Nutrien's disability management program, including disability prevention and stay at work solutions, return to work and workplace accommodations.
  • Collect and analyze disability program data and trend reporting to evaluate program performance and identify areas of opportunity for continuous improvement. Create and present trend and disability management program information at annual disability summit.
  • Establish and maintain regular disability management program governance activities with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate program performance and identify areas of opportunity for improvement.
  • Other accountabilities as deemed appropriate by the business.
  • Occasional travel to site locations for program management and stakeholder meetings.

What you will bring:

  • Completion of a relevant post-secondary program, such as a diploma or bachelor's degree in rehabilitation/disability management, human resources, health sciences, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in a disability case management role with a disability vendor/carrier, workers compensation board, plan sponsor or equivalent combination. Ideally with experience in occupational and non-occupational claims.
  • Experience in a unionized environment and/or manufacturing setting would be an asset.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of disability management in the Canada or/and USAwould be an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of disability management best practices, duty to accommodate principles, and relevant privacy and other related legislation.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of disability prevention and wellbeing strategies.
  • Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including listening, verbal and written communication, collaboration and conflict resolution.
  • Experience with people management and coaching would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Strong organization and planning skills, ability to work independently, manage complex tasks and competing priorities, and act with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to adapt to new and changing situations and embrace challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Valid driver's license

Compensation & Benefits:

$98,400-135,300 This is an estimated range is for this role in Loveland, CO.Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location.

In addition to base pay, this role is also eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan consistent with the terms of our plan(s), which provide discretionary award opportunities reflecting components such as performance of the company and the employee.
