JOB TITLE: Sr. Manager, Technical Excellence

JOB SUMMARY

Provides strategic leadership and direction to field-based Blood Services Specialist and Clinical Apheresis Services Specialist involved in the implementation of Blood, Cell, and Healthcare applications. Exercises considerable judgment in determining training objectives and methods that will meet the needs of the business and customers. Active participant on the NA Commercial Leadership Team. Develops, validates, delivers, and/or manages the technical training programs and related activities. Acts as key communication link between the Market Development Managers, Sales Team, and senior sales management. Works cross-functionally with CTT Cell Processing Specialist team, Operations, and the Quality, Regulatory, Customer Support groups to ensure we have consistency throughout customer touch points. Frequently participates in negotiations with potential customers as the technical expert. Conducts and participates as necessary in defined clinical and/or laboratory work, or trials, involving Terumo BCT products, and/or products or applications from collaborating organizations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Key leader in assessing training needs and conceptualizing training programs requiring creativity, a high level of expertise in applying training theory and methodology, and the ability to lay out complex information in an understandable and usable format. Strives to continuously improve process.
  • Significant responsibility in maintaining relationships with key external customers and other hospital, blood center, cell manipulation professionals, representatives of professional organizations with whom the business is affiliated, and internally within the business.
  • Influences matters of moderate to high impact on current and potential customers.
  • Evaluates internal and external requests for technical information, determines appropriate sources of technical expertise, devises plan for support, and coordinates/deploys team as needed.
  • Partners with internal departments to support product & project launches, transitioning in-line regional marketing plans to field applications and leadership of field-based training resources.
  • Assesses customer communication, documentation programs, and support tools for efficacy via customer and clinical / technical group feedback as well as objective research.
  • Collaborates with the North American field organizations who support hospital, blood center, cell manipulation customer segments, including: sales, regional and global strategic marketing, and customer support to successfully penetrate business opportunities.
  • Partnering with sales consultants, creates strategy to increase product utilization via analysis of business warehouse data, outcome review dlogs / dashboards, monitoring product performance, disposables utilization, and competitor product functionality & performance.
  • Leads team who supports achievement of sales and market share/penetration goals by assisting customers in the optimal use of products.
  • Develops and implements training plans for product systems, and/or product enhancements, ensuring proper understanding of positioning strategies. Leads pre-launch, launch, and post-launch training activities with cross-functional partners.
  • Organizes, coordinates, and presents product seminars for current and potential customers and sales/clinical / technical associates, including competitor product functionality vs. TBCT.
  • Conduct, analyze, and report measures of customer satisfaction and validate learning experiences. Provide measures of application and business impact for major training curriculum.
  • Can develop and lead team to assist with prospecting and qualifying customers with our entire sales portfolio in all business segments.
  • Works collaboratively with the appropriate internal teams to potentially develop selling solutions identified by specialist team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education

Knowledge necessary to perform in this position is generally acquired through a relevant Bachelor's degree, or equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.

Experience

Minimum 10 years' experience in a clinical training or product support role.

Minimum 5 years' experience in sales and/or marketing preferred.

Experience with hospital infrastructure advanced training programs preferred.

Experience with blood collection and transfusion infrastructure advanced training programs preferred.

Skills

  • Demonstrated leadership attributes and ability.
  • Excellent communication skills, presentation, written and verbal.
  • Extensive ability to develop people and teams.
  • Knowledge of LEAN, Six Sigma and Gemba Principles.
  • Extensive knowledge of how product applications/therapies are used and the markets for which they are used.
  • Advanced sales and marketing techniques and extensive experience of implementation, clinical and process improvement requirements.
  • Extensive knowledge of sales/marketing strategic planning and program delivery.
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking skills and the ability to solve problems and develop programs with creativity and good judgment.
  • Intimate knowledge of domestic and a working knowledge of TA/CT/BCS worldwide North American marketplace dynamics and Terumo BCT global marketing strategy (product, price, channels and distribution, and competition)
  • Ability to assess customer needs and market trends within the context of product and business capabilities and the ability to translate this assessment into a workable selling strategy.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • A valid Driver's License is required.

Target Pay Range:$144,900.00to$181,200.00 -Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:20.0%
