Overview

The Research Associate is responsible for conducting a variety of tasks that are critical for project flow. Strong team coordination and communication and high attention to detail are critical to achieving success. This is a junior role on the team, positioned for future growth and deeper engagement across the business.

This is a non exempt position paying $21.00-27.40/hr based on experience.

Responsibilities
    Prepare studies for Histotechnicians by printing cassettes, slides, and other labels.
  • Receive inventory shipments, organize consumables, and label chemicals.
  • Assist with critical process steps such as preparing slides, cleaning blocks of paraffin, and changing processor reagents.
  • Assist other teams with process steps that are crucial for rapid project execution
  • Exercise independent decision making under the guidance and supervision of the Lead Technician and Histology Manager
  • Follow internal documentation steps and maintain proper documentation for all projects.
  • Operate under all Standard Operating Procedures and safety requirements.
  • Ensure proper functioning, maintenance, and cleanliness of all laboratory equipment and work areas.
  • Ensure all chemicals and samples are stored in appropriate conditions, are not expired, and are properly disposed of or recycled.
  • Identify and act on process improvements to gain efficiencies, expand team capacity, and further capabilities.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High attention to detail and can operate well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong professional communication skills
  • Positive, team-oriented approach and independent decision-making skills
  • Prior experience with histology, chemical handling, and/or animal science is preferred but not required.

*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person's relevant experience and/or education level. This is a non exempt position paying $21.00-27.40/hr based on experience.
