University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus

Department: Department of Emergency Medicine

Job Title: Research Services Clinical Research, Open-Rank Entry-Principal, The C3 Global Trauma Network

Position: #817863 - Requisition: #31925

Job Summary:

The C3 Global Trauma Network conducts innovative, collaborative, federally-funded research on severe physical injuries (e.g., physical trauma from gunshots, car crashes, etc). We generate high quality evidence to improve early resuscitation of civilian and military populations alike. We have a special focus on improving patient outcomes in resource-constrained settings - our current focus is in South Africa. Our research involves trauma care provided in ambulances, emergency rooms, intensive care units, and operating rooms.

The C3 Network is funded by US federal research grants, and we have a track record of over 100 scientific publications and conference presentations. Examples of current projects include: blood products and drugs to save lives in dangerous bleeding; care of patients with traumatic brain injuries; strategies to avoid wound infections; and innovative care for penetrating chest trauma. Our discoveries in these areas will propel forward the field of trauma care and help reduce death and disability worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Clinical Research Services Professional will work on a vibrant multi-disciplinary team and contribute to a variety of work and special projects within the C3 Lab that involve:
    • working closely with a research team domestically and internationally,
    • data organization and quality,
    • data collection instrument development and maintenance,
    • data description/summarization/analysis,
    • manuscript development,
    • creating stakeholder presentations, and
    • preparing abstracts and presentations for military and civilian health conferences.
  • The degree of responsibility, technical complexity, and autonomy of the Research Services Professional escalates in a manner than is commensurate with the job tier (i.e., entry, intermediate, senior, or principal).

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite.

Why Join Us:

This position will exercise a variable degree of independence and work under supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) and Program Manager to assist the team to conduct clinically-relevant research conducted in international settings.

The job is in-person and duties will be performed in the U.S. from office buildings on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO.

The principal investigator (Dr. Nee-Kofi Mould-Millman, MD PhD MSCS) conducts research related to (emergency) trauma care in resource-constrained settings internationally. Funding support comes from multi-year project grants from federal sources (e.g. U.S. Department of Defense) and non-governmental foundations. The research group seeks to improve the care of major trauma patients, by generating and applying evidence and by discovering promising care strategies.

The research team focuses on both observational studies and interventional studies related to emergency and trauma care for life-threatening injuries in resource-constrained settings, with a current focus in South Africa. The candidate will assume the role of Research Services Professional within a highly collaborative and exciting multi-disciplinary team located in the USA and South Africa.
