Position Description

As a Business Intelligence Architect/Developer you will join a skilled team of Business Intelligence (BI) technologists responsible for expanding the usage and capabilities of our existing global reporting and analysis BI tools as well as deploying new BI tools and techniques on an enterprise level. You will have had extensive experience with using, developing and deploying BI tools and solutions, easily turning your hand to performance tuning in the BI tool application layer, through to the web servers, down to the database including researching and resolving infrastructure bottlenecks in the hardware, OS and network layers. You will support a diverse team of BI developers, advising on BI solution design, developing and promoting BI standards and best practices and training and mentoring new BI developers. You will provide input into evolving the Enterprise BI Strategy and Architecture, understanding business priorities, needs and gaps with existing solutions to provide a balanced BI portfolio, while maximizing current BI investments. This position will be hands on, require attention to detail and broad BI technical expertise.

Responsibilities will include:

Develop enterprise business intelligence solutions for a variety of business organizations in support of EDW deployment and other data customers
Identify and assist correcting BI performance bottlenecks, debug application or data content related issues
"First of" solution development using new BI technologies, develop standards and best practices for new BI tools
Develop BI solution proof of concepts (POC's)
Develop new, or convert existing legacy systems into business intelligence applications fully leveraging corporate business intelligence tools and deploying best in class solutions
Internal BI solution consulting, partnering with IT and business teams
Assist, train and mentor developers and power users in designing, developing and deploying business intelligence applications
Innovate ways of EDW and BI knowledge pooling, sharing and collaboration
Enhance standards and best practice approaches for existing business intelligence tools
Train and guide internal customers of the data warehouse and other data sources to maximize their self-empowerment and self-sufficiency in using business intelligence tools to query, report on and analyze their data
Self learning and knowledge acquisition on the latest BI tools, technologies and best practices

Qualifications

- 5 years experience as BI architect/developer
- SAP Business Objects experience (not just Crystal) a major plus
- In depth experience with 2 or more enterprise BI tools highly desired
- Enterprise BI tool administration experience
- Experience with niche BI tools, add-ons, other BI vendor solutions of great interest
- Strong SQL skills using large data sets essential. Oracle PL/SQL skills highly desirable
- Good understanding of data warehouse design and development methodologies
- XML, HTML, Java and Java Scripting (JSP) highly desirable
- Excellent presentation skills, experience with training developers and users on BI tools and solutions is a strong plus
- Very strong business and technical analysis skills
- Very effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to rapidly absorb complex technical or business questions and translate these into clear technical requirements, delivering these as effective BI solutions
EDUCATION:
BS in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field.
